CAHNET(2007)
This is a report of a baseline study carried out in preparation
for CAHNET to implement a project called Bridging the Gap –
Dialogue between rural livestock owners and animal health researchers
in East Africa (BTG).
The study was carried
out in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Ethiopia between 5th March
2007 and 25th April 20007. A combination of methods was employed
in order to understand the reasons for contact or lack of it between
researchers and beneficiaries, to establish priority livestock
keepers and their service providers’ research needs and
have an indication of existence of materials that could be reformatted
and shared more widely.
The respondents
were 406 livestock keepers including their service providers and
97 key informants.
